Application Virtualization
As with Desktop or PC Virtualization where the entire computer system is hosted on the server for anyone to access, Application Virtualization refers to the storage of all applications on the server, separate from the local PC. Once again, any application can be accessed and used on any device at any location. We all know the problems with conflicting applications such as XP and Vista; with Application Virtualization, this is no longer an issue. Either application can instantly be accessed as needed from the same computer.
Benefits of Application Virtualization include:
- Software conflicts disappear
- Storage requirements for hosting applications on each device are eliminated
- Management costs for maintaining applications are greatly decreased
- Remote access in a secure manner is instantly achieved
- New users can be up and running in no time
Many believe that within five years, all applications will run virtually, because application incompatibilities and maintenance require such a large part of an IT Department’s time and budget. Eliminating these issues with Application Virtualization is a huge benefit to the work environment.
